Imagine all the people, living life in peace 2003-03-20 / 8:42 p.m.
I don't really know what to say about all that's going on. I'm not sure what's true and what's a rumor, what to believe, what not to believe. I'm not sure if I agree with Bush's decision or not. But there is one thing I'm sure of, I am proud of all the troops we have over there right now, fighting or ready to fight for us at any time. They are risking their lives for millions of people they do not know. All these brave men and women are now living under harshest conditions, away from their families and friends. The people closest to them probably don't even know where they are stationed. I cannot imagine something like that, and I thank God that I don't have to worry about any close friends or family members out there. My heart goes out to all those on the frontlines, preparing to go over or who know someone out there. In honor of these troops, I'm going to post the anthems of some of the areas of the military because I think they are symbolic of what these men and women are doing for us.
The Army Goes Rolling Along
March along, sing our song
With the Army of the free.
Count the brave, count the true
Who have fought to victory.
We're the Army and proud of our name!
We're the Army and proudly proclaim:
First to fight for the right
And to build the nation's might.
And the Army goes rolling along.
Proud of all we have done,fighting till the battle's won.
And the Army goes rolling along.
Then it's hi! hi! hey!
The Army's on its way,
Count off the cadence loud and strong:
For where'er we go, you will always know
That the Army goes rolling along.
Valley Forge, Custer's ranks
And the Army goes rolling along.
Minutemen from the start,
Always fighting from the heart,
And the Army goes rolling along.
Then it's hi! hi! hey!
The Army's on its way,
Count off the cadence loud and strong:
For where'er we go, you will always know
That the Army goes rolling along.
Men in rags, men who froze,
Still the Army met its foes,
And the Army goes rolling along.
Faith in God, then we're right
And we'll fight with all our might
As the Army goes rolling along.
Then it's hi! hi! hey!
The Army's on its way,
Count off the cadence loud and strong: (two, three!)
For where'er we go, you will always know
That the Army goes rolling along. (Keep it rolling!)
And the Army goes rolling along.
Off We Go Into the Wild Blue Yonder (The Air Force Song)
Off we go, into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sun;
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At'em boys, give 'er the gun!
Down we dive, spouting our flame from under,
Off with one hell of a roar!
We live in fame or go down in flame,
Nothing'll stop the U.S. Air Force!
Minds of men fashioned a crate of thunder,
Sent it high into the blue;
Hands of men blasted the world asunder,
How they lived God only knew!
Souls of men dreaming of skies to conquer,
With scouts before and bombs galore,
Nothing can stop the U.S. Air Force!
Here's a toast to the host of those who
Love the vastness of the sky,
To a friend we send the message of his
Brother men who fly.
We drink to those who gave their all of old
Then down we roar to score the rainbow's pot of gold.
A toast to the host of men we boast,
The U.S. Air Force!
Off we go, into the wild blue yonder,
Keep the wings level and true!
If you'd live to be a gray-haired wonder,
Keep the nose out of the blue!
Flying men, guarding our nation's borders,
We'll be there, followed by more.
In echelon, we carry on!
Nothing'll stop the U.S. Air Force!
Always Ready (Semper Paratus, The Coast Guard Song)
From North and South and East and West,
The Coast Guard's in the fight.
Destroying subs and landing troops,
The Axis feels our might.
For we're the first invaders,
On every fighting field.
Afloat, ashore, on men and Spars,
You'll find the Coast Guard shield.
We're always ready for the call,
We place our trust in Thee.
Through howling gale and shot and shell,
To win our victory.
"Semper Paratus" is our guide,
Our pledge, our motto, too.
We're "Always Ready," do or die!
Aye! Coast Guard, we fight for you.
From Aztec shore to Arctic zone,
To Europe and Far East.
The Flag is carried by our ships,
In times of war and peace.
And never have we struck it yet,
In spite of foe-men's might,
Who cheered our crews and cheered again,
For showing how to fight.
We're always ready for the call,
We place our trust in Thee.
Through howling gale and shot and shell,
To win our victory.
"Semper Paratus" is our guide,
Our pledge, our motto, too.
We're "Always Ready," do or die!
Aye! Coast Guard, we fight for you.
SURVEYOR and NARCISSUS,
The EAGLE and DISPATCH,
The HUDSON and the TAMPA
The names are hard to match;
From Barrow's shores to Paraguay,
Great Lakes or ocean's wave,
The Coast Guard fought through storms and winds
To punish or to save.
We're always ready for the call,
We place our trust in Thee.
Through howling gale and shot and shell,
To win our victory.
"Semper Paratus" is our guide,
Our pledge, our motto, too.
We're "Always Ready," do or die!
Aye! Coast Guard, we fight for you.
Aye, we've been "Always Ready"
To do, to fight, or die
Write glory to the shield we wear
In letters to the sky.
To sink the foe or save the maimed
Our mission and our pride
We'll carry on 'til Kingdom Come
Ideals for which we've died.
We're always ready for the call,
We place our trust in Thee.
Through howling gale and shot and shell,
To win our victory.
"Semper Paratus" is our guide,
Our pledge, our motto, too.
We're "Always Ready," do or die!
Aye! Coast Guard, we fight for you.
Ballad of the Green Beret
Fighting soldiers from the sky
Fearless men who jump and die
Men who mean just what they say
The brave men of the Green Beret
Silver wings upon their chest
These are men, America's best
One hundred men will test today
But only three win the Green Beret
Trained to live off nature's land
Trained in combat, hand-to-hand
Men who fight by night and day
Courage peak from the Green Berets
Silver wings upon their chest
These are men, America's best
One hundred men will test today
But only three win the Green Beret
Back at home a young wife waits
Her Green Beret has met his fate
He has died for those oppressed
Leaving her his last request
Put silver wings on my son's chest
Make him one of America's best
He'll be a man they'll test one day
Have him win the Green Beret.
U.S. Marine Corps Hymn
From the Halls of Montezuma
To the Shores of Tripoli;
We will fight our country's battles
In the air, on land and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
of United States Marine.
Our flag's unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in ev'ry clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job--
The United States Marines.
Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven's scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.
Anchors Aweigh (Navy Song)
Stand Navy out to sea, Fight our Battle Cry;
We'll never change our course, So vicious foe steer shy-y-y-y.
Roll out the TNT, Anchors Aweigh. Sail on to Victory
And sink their bones to Davy Jones, Hooray!
Anchors Away, my boys, Anchors Aweigh.
Farewell to foreign shores, We sail at break of day-ay-ay-ay.
Through our last night on shore, Drink to the foam,
Until we meet once more. Here's wishing you a happy voyage home.
Blue of the Mighty Deep; Gold of God's Sun
Let these colors be till all of time be done, done, done,
On seven seas we learn Navy's stern call:
Faith, Courage, Service true, with Honor, Over Honor, Over All.
And now, to end with the theme song to practically the entire military and in honor of those who may have alread given thier lives for this cause:
Taps
Day is done
Gone the sun
From the lakes
From the hills
From the sky
All is well,
safely rest.
God is nigh.
Fading light
Dims the sight
And a star
Gems the sky,
Gleaning bright
From afar,
Drawing nigh,
Falls the night.
Thanks and praise,
For our days,
Neath the sun,
Neath the stars,
Neath the sky,
As we go,
This we know,
God is nigh.
I hope everyone really does pay attention to the words in these songs. They are the anthems of the almost 300,000 troops stationed overseas whom we must pray for every day.
